Committees & Entities
Ever wonder what SBA does for you? Most of the work that SBA does occurs within our Committees and Entities. This is where we work to tackle the biggest issues that law students face. It’s also where you as an SBA member can get involved! The SBA Executive Board cannot solve these issues by ourselves. We need your innovative ideas and your help. Below you will learn about our Committees and Entities. If you want to share an idea or if you have a passion for a particular area and want to get involved with a Committee please contact the individual Committee Chair or Vice-Chair.

SBA Committees
Academics
Committee Members: Steve Ferrell, Adrian Mood, Alex Haddad, Jeffery Sampson, & Max Dauerman
The Academics committee is responsible for organizing the lunch-time events that SBA puts on throughout the year. Last year, SBA hosted lunch panels highlighting different areas of law which included attorneys in the field and professors who teach in the area. Those included panels on international law, criminal law, and corporate law. Expect more events like this in the coming year. Another top priority for this committee will be to help our already top-notch bar passage rate continue on the path towards 100%. This committee will also address students’ concerns regarding scheduling and other such matters.
Socials
Co-chairs: Max Dauerman, Lizzi Muller, and Sarah Morgan
Committee Members: Mike Koulianos, Brittany Fox, Jeffery Sampson, Lee Lovett, Aullie Bigby, & Adrian Mood
The Socials Committee is responsible for planning such world-famous SBA events as the "Black and White" Social, the Halloween Social, and much more. This committee partners with local Tallahassee venues to provide law students with fun opportunities away from studying. Its goal is to ensure that all law students maintain something resembling a real social life while in law school. This committee will also work to expand and broaden the types of socials that SBA holds. SBA will provide family-friendly events and weekend events this year for all students. This committee will also operate a free cab service for SBA members from most socials. If you would like to help plan and diversify our socials, or if you have some great ideas for how to improve our socials, please contact this committee. SBA also regularly looks for organizations and local business to sponsor each of its socials. Contact us for information on how you can sponsor one of our many social events.
Jobs and Placement
Committee Members: Steve Ferrell, Andy Plyler, Alex Haddad, Max Dauerman, Lindsey Scott, Jeffery Sampson, & Lee Lovett
The Jobs and Placement committee will work closely with the Career Placement Office to improve every student’s job search and to make the process as easy and stress free as possible. It will organize career networking events, promote Career Placement workshops, and work with the Placement Office to improve OCI. Last year, the committee placed a special focus on expanding job placement opportunities outside of Florida and promoting ways to acquire employment besides OCI. Contact this Committee to share your ideas and to assist them in their efforts to improve every law student’s job search experience.
Community Service
Committee Members: Vanessa Ritter, Lizzi Muller, Lindsey Scott, Aullie Bigby, Sarah Morgan, & Jacquie Buttard
The Community Service committee will organize projects and activities throughout the year that provide FSU Law students with the opportunity to serve others. Through benefit socials, work days, and joint events with other student organizations, this committee will do all in its power to ensure that our law school has a positive impact on the community and the world. One of the main events this committee will focus on is the annual "Tri for Gey," in which a group of law students run the Red Hills Triathalon to raise money for the fight against ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease). This event was named for the amazing Professor Steve Gey, who is currently battling that disease. If you have any ideas for events that would help this committee serve others, or for worthy causes that this committee should focus on, please let us know.
PR
Committee Chair: Christian Bax
Committee Members: Steve Ferrell, Brittany Fox, Lizzi Muller, Andy Plyler, Aullie Bigby, Sarah Morgan, Adrian Mood, & Vanessa Ritter
The Promotions Committee will focus on keeping you informed of all the events and services SBA provides this year. It will get the word out about important events such as the Student Annual Fund Drive and others that require a high rate of student participation. It will also let you know about SBA tailgates, Bar Reviews, and other fun events.
Outreach
Chair: Alex Haddad
The Outreach committee will act as a liason to the undergraduate campus and the FSU Student Government Association. It will promote the law school’s interests on the main campus and ensure that our voice is heard at all levels of student government. It will also seek to improve our involvement with students from other graduate schools through joint events and other means. We want everyone at FSU to know that there is something special going on at the law school. If you have innovative ideas as to how the law school can better integrate itself into the FSU community, please reach out to this committee.
Recruitment
Co-chairs: Alex Haddad and Christian Bax
The Recruitment committee will work with the admissions office to make sure that FSU Law continues to attract top-quality students. Through the "Admitted Students Peer Leader Program," and other means, this committee will reach out to potential students and spread the word about all that FSU has to offer. It will also seek new, innovative ways to sell our school. Another focus of this committee will be to reach out to students at Florida A&M and the FSU undergraduate campus to ensure that the top students in this area know that FSU is the right law school for them. Please let the chairs of this committee know if you would like to assist in these efforts.
