The Florida State University 2009-2010 Student Bar Association Executive Board

 President- Andrew Fay

Andrew was born and raised in Tampa, Florida and received his undergraduate degree from FSU’s College of Business (Go Noles). Andrew’s extensive experience with State Government includes working under Florida Governor Charlie Crist, Lieutenant Governor Jeff Kottkamp, and former State Representative Trey Traviesa. Andrew was selected as one of ten Florida House of Representative’s Legislative Fellows for the 2008-09 academic year. This Summer, Andrew will serve the Honorable John C. Cooper in the 2nd Judicial Circuit. Serving the FSU Law student body has always come first for Andrew. His previous leadership positions include "1L Class Rep" and "Vice President" of the Student Bar. Andrew currently serves as the managing editor of the FSU Buisness Review Journal and President of the FSU Law Golf Association. As President of SBA, Andrew is hoping to build a strong foundation for FSU law students to participate in volunteer work and to find other ways to give back to the community.   Vice-President- Jessica Pulsifer

Jessica currently serves as Vice-President for the 2010 graduating class. Jessica is from Jacksonville, Florida and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia as a religion major, nutrition science minor. Because public interest law is her passion, she is the chair of the Community Service committee and hopes you will contact her with any great ideas you have. She is also the
current President of the Law School Golf Association. Outside of school Jessica enjoys running, cooking, socials, non law school related books, becoming an avid golfer, and playing with her cat Presley. This is Jessica’s second SBA position, and she looks forward to another year of actively serving FSU College of Law.


 

 Treasurer- Brittany Rhodaback

Brittany is a native of Tampa, Florida and attended undergrad at Florida State University. Go Noles! She graduated in 2008 and double majored in Communication Studies and Political Science. In undergrad, Brittany was a member of numerous academic honors and leadership societies, in addition to being an elected student government officer and a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Brittany previously served on the Student Bar Association Executive Board as a 1L representative and is looking forward to continuing her work with the SBA executive board and serving her fellow students. Brittany is also a member of the Law School Allocations Committee. 


 

 Secretary- Iva Valtcheva

Iva is originally from Bulgaria, but has set roots in the Tampa Bay area for the past 10 years. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of South Florida as an Economics major with a Pre-law concentration track. Before coming to FSU Law, Iva acquired her Public Adjuster’s license and worked for an insurance consulting firm handling sinkhole claims. As one of the 1L Representatives for the 2008-2009 year, she organized Yoga in the Rotunda and was part of the Academics and Community Service committees. Now, as the new SBA secretary, Iva hopes to continue contributing to improving everyone’s law school experience. She is also a member of the Real Estate Law Society and Women’s Law Symposium. Iva is open minded about her law practice in the future but is drawn to Corporate, Bankruptcy, and Family Law. When taking a break from the reading load, Iva loves to spend time with her family and friends, catch up with her favorite ABC shows and watch re-runs of "Friends." 


 ABA Sr. Representative- Chris Tanner

Chris is from Tampa and graduated from FSU with a degree in biology. Following undergrad he worked in Tampa at his family’s small paint company after his father suffered a stroke. He then moved to Washington DC to be a White House Intern and ultimately served as assistant to the Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor. Chris is a member of the Journal of Transnational Law and Policy and last year was a legislative intern for the Insurance, Business & Financial Affairs Policy Committee at the Florida House of Representatives. This year he will serve as a 2009 Gubernatorial Fellow. Outside of law school, Chris enjoys running, fishing, beach days, FSU football, and anything outdoors.  ABA Jr. Representative- Megan Demartini

Megan was born and raised in Clearwater, FL. She graduated from the University of Florida in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a minor in Mass Communication. Megan was a National Merit Scholar, as well as a member of the Warrington College of Business Dean’s List. While attending the University of Florida, Megan served as the Community Service Chair of Kappa Delta sorority, organizing volunteer projects with Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity, and Dance Marathon. Although attending FSU Law, Megan remains a big supporter of Florida Football, serving as the Social Chair of the LitiGators. She is an Admitted Students Peer Mentor, as well as Secretary of the Republican Law Student Association. Outside of law school, Megan enjoys spending time with friends, learning to cook, going to the beach, and reading for fun. This is Megan’s first year serving on the Executive Board, and she hopes to contribute to many positive changes. Feel free to contact her with any ideas or feedback.


 FL Bar Representative- Matt Metz

Matt was born and raised in Daytona Beach, Florida. He is currently a 2L and received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Florida in 2008. During his undergraduate career he was a member of the Chi Phi Fraternity and served as the Alumni Relations Chair. He is currently serving as the 2L representative to the Florida Bar YLD law school division. During his down time, Matt enjoys basketball, surfing, and watching episodes of Law and Order. Except of course for Criminal Intent, because no one really likes Criminal Intent right? Matt is looking forward to serving the student body and hopes you will approach him with any problems or concerns. 


 3L Representative- Kyle Phipps

Kyle was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Florida State University in 2006 and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology and Sociology. During his time at FSU, Kyle was a member of both the FSU men’s water polo team and the FSU swim club. Before attending the FSU College of Law, Kyle attended his first year of law school at the Florida International University College of Law. After transferring to the FSU College of Law in the Fall of 2008, Kyle was elected as 2L Transfer Representative on the Student Bar Association’s 2008-2009 Executive Board where he served on both the jobs/placement and recruitment committees. Kyle is also an Admitted Students Peer Mentor, and a member of both the Business Review Journal and the Environmental Law Society. Outside of law school, Kyle enjoys spending time outdoors, running, swimming, playing racquetball, and law clerking at the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Kyle looks forward to once again serving on the 2009-2010 SBA Executive Board as 3L Representative. He is eager to address any questions or concerns you may have. 


 3L Representative- Lindsay Wells

Lindsay is from Miami, Florida and received her Bachelor of Arts from Emory University in psychology. Community outreach as well as internal community building are important goals, and she hopes to continue to foster those goals within SBA with the skills attained as the social chair in SALSA. Every concern is important to her, from more coke zero and summer access to the gym for unenrolled students to increased networking and job placement. This is her first SBA position and she looks forward not only to helping students and problem solving, but gaining skills from the position to aid her in the future, so please, all problems/concerns are a welcomed learning experience.


 2L Representative- Lauren Bobek

Lauren is from Jacksonville, Florida. She graduated from the University of Florida in 2007, majoring in political science and minoring in French. After graduation, she spent a year clerking with her father’s civil litigation practice in Jacksonville. Last year, as a 1L representative, she helped organize the Law School Olympics and extended the recycling program to the Research Center. On the weekends, she enjoys yoga, french pastries, and thinking of witty comebacks. She does not enjoy scary movies, the Gators losing, or swimming with manatees.


 2L Representative- T.J. Solomon

TJ was born and raised in West Palm Beach, Florida. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from FSU in 2008 with a degree in Criminology. He played hockey for FSU and was the only freshman to make the team. Currently, TJ is the treasurer of the Entertainment and Sports Law Society and is a member of the Law School Golf Association. He enjoys the beach, his family and friends, and playing any sport (especially golf and hockey). TJ would like to do something in criminal or business law or be a sports agent. He likes meeting and interacting with people, and dislikes reading. Contact TJ with any ideas or if anyone needs help with anything.


 Faculty Advisor- Professor Wolf

Professor Wolf has been the faculty advisor for the Student Bar Association since 2005. She provides both support and encouragement, while helping to promote a vital working relationship between the Faculty/Administration and SBA. Professor Wolf is a member of the first-year writing faculty, teaching Legal Research and Writing I and II.

Her most recent legal work has been in private practice with the firm of Gardener, Shelfer, Duggar and Bist in Tallahassee. Prior to that, she worked in the Florida Attorney General’s Office, clerked for Judge Hersey on the Florida Fourth District Court of Appeal and served as Assistant State Attorney in West Palm Beach. Professor Wolf received both her Bachelor of Arts and law degree from Florida State University. She specializes in research, writing and oral advocacy, using these skills in numerous legal areas throughout her career.
